Going Back…

What does that mean? For me, it means going back to sweet memories. It means going back to what your passion is. It means going back to those times in your life that helped shape who you are. One of my favorite quotes is by Kierkegaard, ‘Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.’ I truly feel that we go back to our past experiences all the time. I remember being interested in photography from a young age. I used to collect old cameras to set out in my room. We never had the money to buy a nice camera and so I grew up using disposable cameras for nearly everything. As a very young adult (20 years old), I took a vacation to Hawaii to visit my brother. I shot about 10 rolls of 35mm film on a cheap plastic camera. I came home eager to print my shots and was extremely disappointed in the poor quality that came back to me. Thus, my journey into the world of photography began. Going back to all these memories are mental photographs of my life. Since then, I’ve immersed myself into learning as much as I can. Other hobbies have come and gone but photography remains my greatest passion and outlet for creativity.

Capturing everyday details is my favorite way of documenting life. This blog is about my own personal journey but I hope that it helps to inspire you along the way. You will find me sharing my life, other people’s stories, lots of photographs, our travels, and some delicious recipes. Blessings to you…
